SayCal terms of use
Effective November 5, 2026
These terms cover your use of the SayCal app and its online services. "SayCal", "we" and "us" mean the independent developer who makes the app. By using SayCal, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
Apple's standard license
SayCal is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). These terms add to it. If the two conflict about your license to use the app, the Standard EULA wins. Apple is not responsible for SayCal or its content.
Nutrition information is an estimate
- Calories and nutrients in SayCal are estimates. They come from AI, public databases such as USDA FoodData Central, the UK's Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (CoFID) and Open Food Facts, SayCal's own recipes for common dishes worked out from those databases, and restaurants' and brands' published numbers, and they can be wrong.
- SayCal is not medical advice and is not meant to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing how you eat, especially if you are pregnant, have a health condition, take medication, or have a history of disordered eating.
- Don't rely on SayCal for food allergies or intolerances. Always check the label or ask the restaurant.
- Calorie and weight goals in the app are general suggestions, not a plan made for you by a professional.
Your account
You can use SayCal without signing in; the app creates an anonymous account for you. You can sign in with Apple or Google to back up your journal and use it on a new phone. Keep your devices and sign-in secure, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Account → Delete account.
SayCal Pro subscriptions
- Free for 3 days. Everything in SayCal is free for 3 days from the first time you open the app. There is nothing to buy and no card to give, so there is nothing to cancel. After the 3 days, SayCal needs SayCal Pro. If you first opened SayCal before November 6, 2026, you keep the 7 days you started with. There is one free trial per iPhone and per account: deleting and reinstalling the app, or making a new account, doesn't start another. What you've logged stays on your iPhone either way.
- SayCal Pro is offered as a yearly subscription ($58.99 a year) or a monthly subscription ($6.99 a month) in the US. Prices in other countries may differ, and the app always shows the current price before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and length unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel in the Settings app → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
- Deleting the app or your SayCal account does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If we change the price, Apple tells you first and, where required, asks you to agree before the new price applies.
Fair use
Please don't misuse SayCal. That means no trying to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours, overload or disrupt our servers, scrape or copy our food data in bulk, get around usage limits, reverse engineer our services except where the law allows it, or use SayCal to break the law. Each account has daily limits that keep the service fast for everyone. We may suspend an account that breaks these rules.
Your content
Your journal is yours. You let us process what you log only as needed to run SayCal, as the privacy policy explains, including using foods you type in yourself to check and improve our food data. You are responsible for what you enter.
Brands and outside sources
Restaurant and product names belong to their owners. SayCal is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Links to outside sources are there so you can check the numbers; we don't control those sites.
SayCal's numbers for some common dishes contain public sector information from McCance and Widdowson's Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset, licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. USDA FoodData Central's data is in the public domain.
Changes and availability
We're always improving SayCal, so features may change, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We may update these terms; we'll change the date at the top and, for changes that matter, tell you in the app. If you keep using SayCal after a change, the new terms apply.
Disclaimers and limits
SayCal is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on the app's estimates. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for SayCal in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Ending
You can stop using SayCal and delete your account at any time. We may stop offering SayCal or part of it; if we do, we'll give notice in the app where we can.
